About the Role
The Senior Patent Engineer will manage patent applications, incentive programs, global patent portfolio strategy, licensing, infringement monitoring, IP training, invention scouting, technical patent drafting, competitive analysis, standards compliance, and IP dispute resolution.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in patent engineering, IP management, or related roles
- Familiarity with US patent laws, regulations, and procedures
- Demonstrable experience designing and implementing patent management systems
- Technical expertise in Semiconductor, Microelectronics, Electronic Engineering or Computer Science
- Experience in IP litigation, dispute resolution, and negotiations
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine the patent application process from invention identification to rights maintenance
- Establish and standardize patent incentive mechanisms for R&D teams
- Strategically plan and adjust the company's global patent portfolio
- Collaborate on patent licensing, cross-licensing agreements, and SEP strategies
- Develop risk mitigation protocols including infringement monitoring and early warning systems
- Lead internal IP training and drive intellectual property culture
- Engage with R&D teams to identify breakthrough innovations and translate them into patent applications
- Draft or supervise drafting of high-value patent claims
- Monitor competitor patent portfolios and industry standards
- Integrate patent strategies with open source protocols and industry standards
- Lead resolution of IP disputes, litigation, and enforcement actions
- Develop IP risk mitigation strategies including patent assertion cases and trade secret protection
- Support IP-related negotiations, settlements, and licensing discussions
