About the Role

You will manage the full accounts payable cycle and allocate costs to the correct objectives in accordance with government-contracting requirements. You will review subcontractor invoices, audit travel expenses, maintain per diem rates, record tax accruals, manage fixed assets, support month-end close, and prepare documentation for audits and tax filings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a federal government-contracting environment with accounts payable and job-costing focus
  • Understanding of FAR/DFARS cost principles, allowability, and government accounting standards
  • Experience processing and auditing travel expenses under JFTR, FTR, and federal per diem rules
  • Experience with job-cost allocation, cost segregation, and subcontractor invoice tracking
  • Knowledge of sales and use tax accruals, thresholds, and multistate compliance
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as PROCAS, Deltek Costpoint, or Unanet
  • Microsoft Excel skills for reconciliations and cost reports
  • Ability to gain a US Government security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Oversee full-cycle accounts payable processing in accordance with FAR-compliant accounting practices
  • Manage job cost coding and allocation to appropriate cost objectives
  • Review and reconcile subcontractor invoices
  • Process and audit employee travel expense reports
  • Maintain and apply accurate per diem rates
  • Calculate and record sales and use tax accruals
  • Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules
  • Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and contracts teams to validate costs
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for accounts payable transactions and travel reimbursements
  • Support month-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Prepare schedules for DCAA, DCMA, and independent audits
  • Prepare annual tax filings and assist with IRS inquiries
  • Improve accounts payable and job-cost processes and internal controls
