About the Role
You will own accounting and financial operations end to end, moving the books in-house and building the systems, controls, and team needed to support commercial scale. You will partner across functions on close processes, product costing, audit readiness, accounting policy, budgeting, and tax matters.
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Public accounting background
- Hands-on ERP implementation in a manufacturing or hardware environment
- Hands-on inventory and product cost accounting experience
- Technical accounting knowledge of revenue, capitalization, software, and IP
- Experience leading a company through external audits
- Experience building finance processes from scratch at a fast-growing company
- CPA
- Controller or Assistant Controller experience at a venture-backed hardware, robotics, autonomous vehicle, or consumer electronics company
- Experience taking a company from pre-revenue to commercial launch
- Experience with contract manufacturers in Asia
- Experience with spend and automation tools such as Ramp
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close under US GAAP
- Select and implement a manufacturing-ready ERP, including chart of accounts design, inventory, BOM, and costing
- Manage accounts payable, vendor payments, and spend controls
- Build and lead the accounting and financial operations team
- Transition accounting from an external bookkeeper to an in-house function
- Own audit readiness
- Design product costing and COGS methodology, including standard costs, overhead allocation, and accruals
- Set accounting policy and write technical memos across revenue, inventory, capitalization, software, R&D, IP, leases, and equity compensation
- Assess accounting treatment of supplier, manufacturing, and compute agreements
- Design and document internal controls
- Support budgeting, burn, and unit economics
- Manage outside tax advisors on income, sales and use, and R&D credit matters
