About the Role

You will own custody and compliance as an end-to-end business direction, including its strategy, economics, roadmap, delivery, and performance. You will oversee custody infrastructure, deposits, withdrawals, KYC, AML, Travel Rule processes, fraud controls, and customer activation. You will improve transaction speed, reliability, conversion, and customer experience while balancing commercial outcomes against risk. You will build scalable compliance workflows, analyze fraud and false positives, manage critical incidents involving customer funds, negotiate with external providers, and lead product and engineering delivery. You will also manage priorities, budgets, metrics, hiring, performance, releases, and automation initiatives.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in crypto custody, payments, KYC/AML, or related financial infrastructure
• Experience owning custody and compliance processes in a crypto exchange, wallet, broker, crypto bank, BaaS provider, custody platform, or similar environment
• Practical experience with Fireblocks, Copper, BitGo, Uphold, or similar platforms
• Strong understanding of KYC, AML, Travel Rule, transaction monitoring, and fraud prevention
• Experience building operational compliance processes at scale
• Experience managing external providers and negotiating commercial terms
• Strong product and commercial mindset
• Ability to assess how compliance decisions affect conversion, revenue, and customer experience
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
• Technical literacy and ability to work directly with engineers
• Experience managing employees and owning delivery
• Crypto or fintech experience is highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Own custody and compliance strategy, roadmap, priorities, budget, and business results
• Define and track metrics for deposits, withdrawals, KYC, fraud, and customer activation
• Improve customer onboarding and money-movement speed and conversion
• Balance risk prevention with customer experience and commercial impact
• Build financial and operational models and make data-driven decisions
• Work with C-level stakeholders on strategy and priorities
• Own custody infrastructure and custody-provider relationships
• Manage deposit and withdrawal flows across the ecosystem
• Improve transaction-processing speed, reliability, and success rates
• Identify and resolve customer money-movement bottlenecks
• Manage incidents and critical issues involving customer funds
• Implement KYC, AML, and Travel Rule requirements
• Build scalable case management, decision SLAs, escalation processes, and operational workflows
• Optimize compliance controls to protect conversion
• Analyze false positives and missed fraud cases
• Coordinate with Legal and Risk while owning customer and business outcomes
• Develop fraud-prevention guardrails for deposits, withdrawals, and customer verification
• Monitor fraud losses and false-positive rates
• Build data-driven methods for identifying suspicious activity
• Scale risk controls with transaction volume
• Manage custody, KYC, AML, and infrastructure providers
• Negotiate commercial and operational terms
• Reduce dependency on individual providers where appropriate
• Drive provider integrations with engineers
• Hold providers accountable for service levels
• Lead the engineering function responsible for the business direction
• Manage priorities, backlog, releases, and delivery
• Set measurable goals and outcomes
• Hire and develop employees and make performance decisions
• Use AI and automation to improve execution efficiency
