About the Role

Serve as in-house counsel for Xsolla's Japan operations, advising on licensing deals, vendor contracts, local HR matters, corporate governance, regulatory developments, cross-border transactions, and legal risk. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and drafting abilities in Japanese and English.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience as a corporate attorney in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Licensed to practice law in Japan with bengoshi qualification or equivalent.
  • Deep expertise in negotiating and drafting complex agreements and corporate matters.
  • Broad experience with licensing, vendor contracts, and HR or employment matters.
  • Full professional fluency in Japanese and English, written and spoken.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a globally distributed organization.
  • Gaming, entertainment, or technology industry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including licensing, vendor, distribution, and partnership deals.
  • Advise on Japanese employment and HR matters, including hiring, termination, and labor compliance.
  • Provide corporate governance counsel on entity management, shareholder agreements, and board-level matters in Japan.
  • Manage relationships with external Japanese counsel across multiple practice areas.
  • Monitor and advise on regulatory developments affecting Xsolla's Japan operations.
  • Support cross-border transactions and coordinate with global legal teams.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks across Japan business operations.

Benefits

  • Salary of $105,000 plus eligibility for a bonus.
