About the Role
You will own commercial contracting from drafting through negotiation and closing. You will advise on product and engineering initiatives, manage corporate, governance, employment, IP, privacy, marketing, dispute, and regulatory matters, and improve legal processes, templates, and contract-management tooling. You will also coordinate with compliance and determine when outside counsel is needed.
Requirements
- Demonstrated commercial contracting experience, including drafting, negotiating, and closing a high volume of varied agreements.
- In-house legal experience, ideally within a small legal team.
- Broad experience across multiple legal areas.
- Experience building legal templates, playbooks, processes, or tooling.
- Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, Finance, People, Compliance, or other business teams.
- JD and active membership in good standing with at least one US state bar.
Responsibilities
- Own commercial contracting end to end, including client, institutional, partner, protocol, and other business agreements.
- Negotiate directly with counterparties and their counsel.
- Advise Product and Engineering on onchain product design and launches.
- Handle corporate, governance, equity, financing, employment, IP, privacy, marketing, dispute, and regulatory matters alongside the General Counsel.
- Partner with the Head of Compliance to align contractual commitments, policies, and controls.
- Determine which matters to handle in-house and when to engage outside counsel.
- Improve legal intake, contract management, templates, playbooks, and related processes.
- Use AI and automation for drafting, review, intake, and contract management.
