About the Role
You will develop and maintain material, manufacturing-process, and inspection specifications for aircraft structures. You will guide fatigue and corrosion prevention, support environmental qualification, design qualification test plans, work with suppliers, address nonconformances, and help select materials and processes.
Requirements
- Knowledge of industry standards for coupon and element-level testing and material qualification
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including composite layups, secondary bonding, heat treatment, and welding
- Knowledge of material properties, characterization methods, and failure mechanisms
- Experience with test design, test execution, and deriving material specifications from test results
- Experience with composite materials, prepreg systems, and secondary bonding
- Experience developing process specifications
- Experience working with multifunctional teams
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain material specification databases
- Develop and maintain manufacturing process specifications
- Provide guidance for fatigue and corrosion prevention
- Support environmental qualification testing
- Design and implement qualification test plans
- Develop and maintain QA inspection process specifications
- Work with suppliers to implement process specifications
- Assist with dispositioning nonconformances
- Select materials and manufacturing processes with multifunctional teams
