About the Role
You will own mechanical design and analysis from concept through flight. You will design enclosures and structures, create drawings and bills of materials, perform structural and thermal analyses, support manufacturing and environmental testing, collaborate on electrical and RF integration, and present work at design reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- At least six years of mechanical engineering design experience related to PCB assemblies
- Knowledge of spaceflight requirements, standards, and environments
- At least five years of SolidWorks, Ansys, or equivalent 3D CAD experience
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and GD&T
- Understanding of machining and mechanical assembly
- Experience writing manufacturing instructions
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
- U.S. citizenship
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical enclosures, structures, systems, and mounting solutions for spacecraft payloads
- Create detailed part and assembly drawings in SolidWorks
- Perform structural and thermal analysis
- Conduct thermal, bolted-joint, and structural-fatigue analyses
- Create mechanical bills of materials and select spaceflight materials
- Collaborate on PCB packaging and mechanical-electrical integration
- Develop manufacturing instructions and support hardware builds
- Write environmental test procedures and support test execution
- Present at formal design reviews
- Source manufactured hardware and own hardware through delivery
