About the Role

You will provide independent safety assurance across robotic hardware, software, firmware, controls, AI/ML, and human-robot interaction. You will develop safety strategies, requirements, cases, verification and validation evidence, and change-impact assessments. You will support safety gates, incident investigations, post-market monitoring, and the translation of regulations and standards into safety processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline
• 6+ years of experience in product safety, systems safety, functional safety, safety assurance, verification and validation, robotics, autonomous systems, or another safety-critical field
• Understanding of AI/ML safety implications and AI-enabled system verification and validation
• Verification and validation expertise
• Systems engineering understanding across hardware, software, firmware, controls, sensors, actuators, and cyber-physical systems
• Experience with safety-critical software development, release processes, software quality assurance, configuration management, change management, hazard analysis, FMEA/FMECA, STPA, STAMP, or risk assessment
• Familiarity with IEC 61508, ISO 21448/SOTIF, ISO 13849, IEC 62061, ISO 42001, ISO/IEC TS 22440, EU AI Act, or robotics safety standards
• Eligibility to work in the United States
• Ability to independently challenge technical assumptions and assess residual risk
• Written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Provide safety assurance across the full technical stack and support readiness reviews and safety gate sign-off
• Develop and evaluate verification and validation strategies, acceptance criteria, test coverage, and safety evidence
• Evaluate safety analyses, claims, mitigations, and readiness evidence
• Assess the safety implications of releases, firmware updates, model changes, configuration changes, and hardware revisions
• Support incident investigations, corrective actions, post-market monitoring, and field-learning incorporation
• Collaborate with engineering teams and Safety Case owners on safety processes and evidence quality
• Translate regulations, standards, and certification expectations into internal safety policies and procedures
