About the Role
You'll join AlphaSense as a Staff-level individual contributor, leading through design craft, systems thinking, and a deep understanding of customer workflows. You'll drive strategic design initiatives, translating complex, data-rich problems into intuitive, high-quality experiences tailored to how customers actually work. You'll bring clarity to ambiguity, define end-to-end workflows, and ensure product experiences are cohesive, scalable, and grounded in real user needs. You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and AI teams to shape how capabilities come together into meaningful user experiences, balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints. As a senior member of the team, you'll act as a multiplier, mentoring other designers, contributing to design systems and patterns, and helping raise the bar for craft and consistency. You'll play a critical role in defining how AI-native workflows are delivered, ensuring they are intuitive, trustworthy, and seamlessly integrated into customers' day-to-day work.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in interaction design, systems thinking, and delivering high-quality, user-centered experiences
- Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field
- Deep expertise in designing end-to-end customer workflows, with a proven ability to simplify complex, data-rich problems into intuitive, habit-forming product experiences
- Highly proficient in design and prototyping tools, with the ability to communicate ideas through flows, systems, and high-fidelity prototypes
- Strong collaboration with engineering teams, with working knowledge of modern web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; bonus if experienced with React or similar frameworks
- Actively leverage AI to augment the design process from research and ideation to prototyping and iteration, and continuously build fluency with modern AI tools and workflows
- Strong awareness of emerging AI and search technologies, with curiosity and initiative to apply new capabilities to real product experiences
- Proven ability to lead complex projects end-to-end, navigate ambiguity, and drive clarity across cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing other designers, helping raise the bar for craft, systems thinking, and execution
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in financial services, investment workflows, or data-heavy SaaS products is a plus
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-fidelity prototypes, interaction models, and end-to-end experiences that clearly communicate product vision and drive strategic alignment across stakeholders
- Transform customer insights from interviews, surveys, and usability testing into actionable product direction
- Define and drive design strategy for key initiatives, ensuring alignment with company goals
- Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex requirements into intuitive, high-quality user experiences that scale
- Deliver exceptionally crafted solutions while elevating design quality by contributing to the design system, evolving patterns, and shaping best practices
- Design for systems, not just screens, working within and advancing a growing design system
- Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and AI capabilities, applying new ideas to continuously improve product experiences
- Communicate complex ideas with clarity and influence, ensuring alignment and momentum across cross-functional partners
- Collaborate closely with engineering throughout development, advocating for design quality and a high bar for execution, usability, and attention to detail
