About the Role

You will lead design for a complex set of products and features such as booking and dispatching modules that impact public sector transit agencies, municipalities and governments. You will bring vision, sensitivity and empathy to design products for special needs populations, students, and caregivers, helping transit agencies achieve equitable transportation. You will chart the path for extending the transit dispatch platform from on-demand to paratransit, school buses and fixed lines, conduct user research and usability testing, and craft every detail of new product features from idea to pixel-perfect execution. You will collaborate closely with product managers, analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in digital product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in leading design projects from concept to launch
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • High bar for craft and quality
  • Experienced in working with complex systems and systems thinking mindset
  • Proficient with Figma and high-fidelity prototyping tools
  • Experience in motion and interaction design (advantage)
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively considering timeline, scope, and technical limitations
  • Able to take ownership, work independently and be accountable for your work

Responsibilities

  • Chart the path for extending Via's transit dispatch platform from on-demand to paratransit, school buses and fixed lines
  • Design features for special needs populations such as paratransit riders, students and caregivers
  • Envision diverse user journeys based on the populations being served
  • Design products that serve rides based on rider eligibility, special conditions and disability aids
  • Conduct user research and usability testing and work with analysts to gather insights
  • Craft every detail of new product features from idea to UX to pixel-perfect execution
  • Identify areas for improvement and manage tradeoffs
  • Contribute to the design system as the company scales
  • Work through the entire lifecycle of the project and collaborate with product managers, analysts, engineers, and stakeholders
