About the Role
You will lead rack-scale mechanical design for AI inference hardware, including chassis, enclosures, cooling, and high-power connections. You will take systems from design and validation through production, perform reliability analysis, work with manufacturing partners, resolve quality issues, and develop specifications and test procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 10+ years of mechanical design, simulation, and validation experience for IT hardware
- Technical leadership of rack-scale programs
- Experience with OCP specifications and rack-scale system design
- Chassis and sheet metal design experience
- Design-for-manufacturability experience
- Shock and vibration testing experience
- Experience taking designs through mass production
- Experience working with suppliers, ODMs, CMs, or JDMs
- CAD and FEA proficiency
- GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and materials-selection expertise
Responsibilities
- Lead rack-scale mechanical design in compliance with OCP specifications
- Design and validate chassis, enclosure, cooling, and high-power systems
- Own the product lifecycle from design through mass production
- Conduct reliability testing and perform 3D modeling, FEA, and tolerance analysis
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners through production ramp
- Resolve NPI and production quality issues
- Review liquid-cooled rack integration
- Develop specifications and test procedures
- Mentor engineers and evaluate mechanical technologies
