About the Role
You will design and continuously refine a streamlined patent application process, from invention identification and proposal evaluation to filing and rights maintenance. You will establish patent incentive mechanisms to motivate R&D teams while ensuring regulatory compliance, and strategically plan the company's global patent portfolio based on market dynamics and business objectives. You will collaborate on licensing initiatives, cross-licensing agreements, and standard-essential patent strategies, and develop risk mitigation protocols including infringement monitoring and early warning systems. You will lead internal training to build a strong intellectual property culture across the organization. Working closely with R&D teams, you will scout breakthrough innovations and translate them into strong, defensible patent applications, leveraging your technical expertise in HPC, AI, and server chip technologies to draft or supervise high-value patent claims. You will monitor competitor patent portfolios and industry standards to identify risks and opportunities, and integrate patent strategies with open source protocols like RISC-V. You will lead the resolution of IP disputes, litigation, and enforcement actions, collaborating with external counsel when needed, and support IP-related negotiations and settlements with third parties.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in patent engineering, IP management, or related roles
- Familiarity with US patent laws, regulations, and procedures
- Demonstrable experience designing and implementing patent management systems
- Technical expertise in Semiconductor, Microelectronics, Electronic Engineering or Computer Science
- Experience in IP litigation, dispute resolution, and negotiations
Responsibilities
