About the Role
You will lead commissioning and startup from mechanical completion through commercial operation. You will define turnover and energization strategies, manage testing and safety, direct EPC and OEM partners, shape designs for commissionability, and build standards, tools, and teams for portfolio-wide execution.
Requirements
- 15+ years of commissioning, startup, and operations experience in power generation or comparable heavy-process facilities.
- Senior leadership of a major greenfield startup through commercial operation.
- Technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
- Experience with energization planning, first fire, performance testing, and reliability demonstrations.
- Knowledge of PSSR, permit-to-work, management of change, and safe energization.
- Experience directing EPC contractors and OEM commissioning teams.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to travel to project sites up to 50% during active startup campaigns.
Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning and startup strategy, planning, and execution.
- Define systemization, turnover, energization, first-fire, testing, and reliability-run approaches.
- Develop commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, test scripts, and systems-testing protocols.
- Manage punch lists, walkdowns, and completion tracking.
- Lead performance-guarantee testing and commercial-operation demonstrations.
- Influence designs for commissioning, startup, and operation.
- Represent operational needs in design reviews, HAZOPs, and operability reviews.
- Apply commissioning safety practices including PSSR, permit-to-work, LOTO, isolation management, and management of change.
- Direct EPC commissioning teams.
- Manage OEM technical advisors, factory commissioning teams, FAT witnessing, and warranty preservation.
- Coordinate startup activities with permitting, data-center delivery, and operations teams.
- Build commissioning standards, tools, and a commissioning and startup organization.
- Establish turnover-to-operations requirements.
- Report commissioning progress, risks, and readiness to leadership.
