About the Role
You will lead legal strategy for consumer financial products and regulatory matters. You will advise on product design and legal risk, monitor regulatory changes, manage senior external relationships, oversee licensing and exams, and develop senior legal professionals.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing
- 12+ years of legal and regulatory experience in consumer financial services or fintech
- Experience advising on product and regulatory matters
- Experience with banking, lending, payments, digital financial products, and BaaS partnerships
- Knowledge of TILA, TISA, EFTA, FCRA, GLBA, UDAAP, ROSCA, consumer protection, and licensing requirements
- Experience managing state licensing requirements and regulatory requirement inventories
- Experience supporting state and federal regulatory exams, audits, and regulatory change initiatives
- People leadership experience developing senior legal professionals
- Executive-level communication skills
Responsibilities
- Lead legal strategy for banking, lending, payments, neobanking, and subscription products
- Advise on product structure, onboarding, disclosures, pricing, servicing, and terms
- Build and lead a regulatory monitoring and change-management program
- Manage senior legal relationships with sponsor banks, program partners, payment processors, and outside counsel
- Oversee state licensing strategy and provide legal leadership during regulatory exams, reviews, and audits
- Manage, coach, and develop senior legal professionals
