About the Role

You will lead contracts throughout their lifecycle, from tender development and negotiation through performance, changes, claims, and closeout. You will advise stakeholders on commercial risk, negotiate defence and international agreements, administer awarded contracts, and improve contracting processes and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • At least eight years of progressively responsible contracts or commercial-management experience
  • Experience with Australian Defence, Australian Government, or major Australian Defence contractor contracts
  • Experience with ASDEFCON-based tenders or contracts and Commonwealth Procurement Rules
  • Experience negotiating complex hardware and software product contracts
  • Experience with software development, licensing, technology integration, intellectual property, or technical-data rights agreements
  • Experience with international commercial or cross-border government transactions
  • Understanding of product delivery, acceptance, warranty, product liability, sustainment, export control, and information security
  • Ability to lead complex negotiations and manage concurrent transactions
  • Legal authorisation to work in Australia

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation, negotiation, and administration of contracts for defence, government, prime-contractor, and commercial customers
  • Support Australian Government and Defence tenders by reviewing requirements, preparing compliance matrices, and developing commercial assumptions
  • Negotiate commercial risk provisions, including intellectual property, software rights, liability, warranties, and dispute resolution
  • Draft and negotiate international commercial, product-sale, teaming, reseller, nondisclosure, and statement-of-work agreements
  • Negotiate software-development, licensing, integration, and third-party software arrangements
  • Develop intellectual-property and technical-data rights structures
  • Administer awarded agreements, obligations, deliverables, milestones, changes, claims, and closeout activities
  • Serve as the primary contractual interface with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and technology partners
  • Provide contracting guidance and training to business stakeholders
  • Develop scalable contracting processes, templates, playbooks, workflows, and tools
