About the Role
You will lead the Democracy and Civic Life grantmaking portfolio. You will develop program goals and strategies, oversee grantmaking and assessment, identify and evaluate proposals, launch initiatives, and build relationships with grantees and field partners. You will communicate the program’s work through writing, presentations, and contributions to communications channels, and travel to deepen field knowledge and develop partnerships.
Requirements
- Significant work experience in civic participation, civic education, democratic innovation, politics and government, news and civic information, community organizing, policy advocacy, community power building, or related fields
- Bachelor’s degree
- Practical experience as an organizational leader, project manager, or administrator
- Ability to travel within the United States and internationally
Responsibilities
- Develop program goals, strategies, benchmarks, and progress tracking for grantmaking
- Invite and assess proposals and recommend grants
- Design and implement initiatives, RFPs, and strategies to elicit proposals
- Work with applicants and grantees to develop, implement, and evaluate projects
- Assess the effectiveness of grantmaking strategies
- Connect grantees with one another and with needed resources
- Travel to build field knowledge, relationships, and partnerships
- Communicate program work to the Board, field leaders, and the public through writing and presentations
