About the Role
You will help shape strategy and grantmaking for high-burden disease research. You will evaluate funding opportunities, conduct scientific and organizational diligence, engage external experts, write decision briefs, identify ecosystem gaps, and help launch new initiatives. You will also represent the program externally and support portfolio management.
Requirements
- 10–15+ years of relevant experience preferred
- Experience in biology, chemistry, translational medicine, drug development, clinical practice, global health, biotechnology, or life-sciences venture or grant investing
- Ability to engage across scientific and strategic topics
- Ability to evaluate scientific, technical, or organizational opportunities and make recommendations
- Experience engaging external experts, institutions, and senior stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strategic judgment and execution ability
- Ability to work in an ambiguous, evolving environment
- High ownership, discretion, and accountability
Responsibilities
- Support portfolio strategy, grantmaking execution, and ongoing management
- Source, evaluate, and recommend grants and funding opportunities
- Research disease and technology areas and develop investment theses
- Engage researchers, nonprofits, startups, academic centers, funders, and potential grantees
- Build relationships with scientific and health-sector leaders
- Conduct diligence on organizations, projects, and leaders
- Write internal recommendations, briefs, and strategy memos
- Identify ecosystem gaps and develop partnership or field-building ideas
- Help create and launch new initiatives
- Represent the program in external conversations
