About the Role

You will advise on consumer products from design through launch and post-launch review. You will guide teams on consumer protection, privacy, data use, marketing, subscriptions, security, AI transparency, and regulatory matters. You will lead legal reviews, respond to complaints and regulator inquiries, assess escalations, monitor legal developments, and build scalable legal guidance and processes.

Requirements

  • J.D., LL.M., or equivalent law degree and authorization to practice law in the U.S. state where located
  • At least five years of relevant legal experience
  • Consumer protection or product counseling experience
  • Knowledge of U.S. consumer protection law, Section 5 of the FTC Act, and UDAP laws
  • Experience with subscriptions, advertising, privacy, data protection, payments, promotions, platform regulation, or AI governance
  • Ability to lead product or regulatory matters independently
  • Legal writing
  • Ability to translate legal requirements for product, engineering, and business teams
  • Knowledge of technical systems, data flows, and controls

Responsibilities

  • Advise on consumer products and features from early design through launch and post-launch review
  • Advise on consumer protection, disclosures, pricing, subscriptions, renewals, refunds, promotions, advertising claims, dark patterns, and support practices
  • Review marketing, growth, advertising, adtech, martech, messaging, and product claims
  • Counsel product and engineering teams on privacy, data use, consent, retention, security, AI transparency, and age-related protections
  • Lead legal reviews of cross-functional launches
  • Support responses to consumer complaints and regulator inquiries
  • Assess product, privacy, consumer protection, contractual, and regulatory incidents and escalations
  • Monitor AI and online-services legal developments and create guidance and product requirements
  • Build legal templates, review standards, decision records, training, and self-service guidance
