Matters Lab was founded in 2018 with the mission to build a freer and fairer creator ecosystem through Web3. Its core product, Matters.Town, is an open-source, IPFS-based decentralized publishing platform offering ownership verification, NFT-powered subscriptions, token-driven community, and DAO-based governance for creators. The Lab also operates Billboard, an on-chain advertising protocol that returns 80% of ad revenue to qualifying creators; The Space, a collaboratively owned Draw-to-Earn pixel canvas NFT project incorporating Harberger Tax and Universal Basic Income concepts, eventually to be governed by SpaceDAO; and Traveloggers, a dynamic NFT/PFP and collaboration protocol (Logbook) with 1,500 holders who gain access to airdrops and governance tokens. Matters Lab also runs grant programs such as the Frontline Fellowship, Million Matters Community Fund, and Rocket Fund to support independent and civil journalists, and serves creators, developers, and investors in the Web3 space.
