About the Role

You will lead mechanical design for controllable solid propulsion systems and manage a team of approximately 10 engineers. You will develop CAD models and drawings, conduct analyses and simulations, guide multidisciplinary design decisions, mentor engineers, and support resource planning, staffing, budgets, recruitment, and performance management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • At least 10 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Advanced technical and organizational leadership skills.
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD modeling, technical drawings, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, testing, or manufacturing controllable solid propulsion systems.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain required export authorizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design challenges for solid rocket motor systems and related components.
  • Develop 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings.
  • Apply GD&T and statistical tolerance analysis.
  • Set up and validate structural, dynamic, thermal, and combustion simulations.
  • Apply materials and manufacturing expertise to design and assembly planning.
  • Contribute to propellant chemistry, grain design, ballistics modeling, and combustion-response prediction.
  • Provide technical direction and programmatic oversight.
  • Mentor, coach, train, and develop engineering team members.
  • Support resource planning, staffing, budget inputs, performance appraisals, recruitment, and hiring.
