About the Role
You lead the full grid interconnection lifecycle for large-load data center projects on the ERCOT grid, from feasibility and site diligence through studies, agreements, and energization. You manage transmission studies and external consultants, interface with ERCOT and transmission service providers, negotiate interconnection agreements, and guide projects through ERCOT large-load pathways. You oversee substations, switching stations, points of delivery, UPS systems, and behind-the-meter equipment throughout design, construction, energization, and ongoing reliability. You also shape regulatory strategy, monitor Texas legislation and PUCT and ERCOT proceedings, represent the organization in stakeholder groups, and ensure compliance with ERCOT, NERC, and PUCT requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- 7+ years of progressive electrical engineering, transmission planning, interconnection, or related experience
- Experience managing multiple interconnections across various geographic locations
- Experience managing vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and associated financial operations
- Strong project management, communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Licensed engineer preferred
- Experience supporting large-load or utility-scale generation projects from initial submission through energization is a bonus
- Experience participating in the ERCOT regulatory environment is a bonus
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end interconnection process for large loads on the ERCOT grid
- Manage transmission and interconnection studies and external engineering and modeling consultants
- Review technical details of models and study results
- Serve as the primary interface with ERCOT and transmission service providers
- Manage RFIs, data requests, and study milestones
- Lead negotiation and execution of interconnection agreements and associated security
- Navigate ERCOT Batch, RPG, and LLI processes
- Provide interconnection feasibility and risk input to site selection and development or M&A
- Oversee substations, switching stations, points of delivery, UPS, and behind-the-meter equipment
- Coordinate design, buildout, energization, and ongoing reliability of power assets
- Own protection, modeling, and reliability considerations for connected assets
- Manage power-related vendors and consultants across the asset lifecycle
- Provide input to regulatory strategy for large-load interconnection
- Monitor and influence Texas legislation, PUCT dockets, and ERCOT revision requests
- Represent the organization in ERCOT stakeholder and working groups
- Ensure interconnection and asset activities comply with ERCOT, NERC, and PUCT requirements
