About the Role

As General Manager for Ethiopia, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and managing operations in the country. You'll drive strategic planning, market entry, and business growth while overseeing data center construction and operations. You'll build and maintain relationships with government officials and key stakeholders, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage the full lifecycle of data center projects from planning through commissioning. You'll also be responsible for financial management, budgeting, and building a high-performing local team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
• MBA or equivalent management background strongly preferred
• At least 8-10 years of management experience in the data center, cloud computing, IT infrastructure, or related industries
• Minimum of 5 years in senior roles such as GM, Operations Director, or Project Director
• Extensive knowledge and experience in managing the full lifecycle of data center projects
• Familiarity with industrial standards such as Uptime Tier Standards, ISO 27001, PUE optimization
• Experience in emerging markets, especially in Africa, is a significant plus
• Deep understanding of the data center industry and its trends including power supply systems, cooling solutions, network architecture
• Familiarity with cloud computing, hybrid IT solutions, storage, and edge computing technologies
• Proven ability to manage capital-intensive projects while ensuring a strong Return on Investment
• Cryptocurrency industry background or management experience preferred
• Connections with the local government of Ethiopia will be given priority

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement medium- and long-term strategic plans to achieve operational excellence and business growth
• Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer needs to create business strategies
• Ensure the company maintains its technological leadership and captures market share
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure high customer satisfaction and renew contracts
• Develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders such as cloud service providers and government organizations
• Establish and maintain relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, and local authorities
• Represent the company at government meetings, events, and negotiations
• Monitor regulatory developments impacting data center construction and IT operations
• Oversee the entire lifecycle of data center projects including feasibility studies, planning, design, construction, and commissioning
• Supervise operation and maintenance of data centers to ensure efficiency, reliability, and security
• Update headquarters on project progress and provide contingency plans for delays
• Develop and manage the annual budget including forecasting costs and revenue projections
• Optimize resource allocation for financial health and sustainable growth
• Implement quality assurance processes to meet operational standards
• Build a high-performing management team with clear accountability
