About the Role
Oversee securities and corporate accounting for Alpaca's Japan entity, including regulatory capital management, financial close, cash management, payment operations, financial reporting, system implementations, and support for new business initiatives.
Requirements
- Hands-on accounting experience within a securities firm
- Hands-on general accounting experience in a corporate environment
- Experience managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Knowledge of financial and management accounting principles
- Knowledge of or practical experience with CAR calculations and regulatory capital requirements
- Business-level proficiency in Japanese and English
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Experience in a global or multinational environment
- Experience leading ERP or accounting system implementation and migration projects
- Experience driving process improvement and operational standardization
- Experience supporting accounting for new business initiatives or product launches
- Experience in a startup or high-growth company environment
Responsibilities
- Manage accounting operations for a regulated securities business
- Perform accounting for securities transactions and customer assets
- Calculate, monitor, and validate the Capital Adequacy Ratio
- Support capital plans and capital strategies aligned with business growth
- Prepare regulatory reports and filings for the FSA, JSDA, and other regulators
- Manage general accounting operations and monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Oversee invoice processing and employee expense reimbursements
- Manage cash flow and treasury activities
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
- Support accounting system implementation and migration projects
- Provide accounting and financial support for new product and service launches
- Improve and standardize accounting operations with global finance teams
