About the Role

Voyager Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineer - Project Engineer V to serve as a senior technical authority for high-complexity defense and aerospace programs. The role provides technical direction, systems integration leadership, engineering oversight, risk management, customer interface support, and enterprise-level process improvement across major programs.

Requirements

  • Active or obtainable and maintainable DoD Secret Clearance.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible project engineering, systems engineering, or program-level technical leadership experience.
  • Experience leading large-scale, multidisciplinary engineering projects through the full lifecycle.
  • Experience managing large-scale DoD or MDA programs and complex systems integration and verification activities.
  • Experience as a Control Account Manager and technical lead under EVMS-compliant contracts.
  • Deep knowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycles, including DoDI 5000 series, and MIL-STD systems engineering processes.
  • Experience overseeing subcontractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or related STEM field with 10 years of experience; qualifying master’s, equivalent experience, or stated alternative education paths may apply.
  • Advanced technical leadership, systems integration, verification planning, risk-based engineering, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with engineering management and project planning tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% and work in secure or classified environments.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as chief project engineer or senior technical lead for large, multi-phase defense and aerospace programs.
  • Define system architecture, integration, and verification strategies aligned with customer and mission objectives.
  • Oversee engineering execution across Integrated Product Teams and major subcontractors.
  • Lead technical baseline definition, configuration management, and system integration planning.
  • Support major design and integration reviews and technical performance compliance.
  • Interface with executive management and DoD customers.
  • Manage Statements of Work, subcontractor deliverables, and supplier design inputs.
  • Develop risk and opportunity management frameworks.
  • Mentor project engineers and functional leads.
  • Support proposal development, cost estimation, and new business capture.
  • Drive systems engineering process improvement, knowledge management, and best practices.
