About the Role
You will lead high-voltage and substation field execution for a data center build. You will supervise substation and switchyard construction, coordinate utility clearances and outages, sequence testing and energization, enforce high-voltage safety controls, manage specialty contractors, and maintain documentation for utility acceptance and system turnover.
Requirements
- 7+ years supervising high-voltage substation switchyard or transmission construction from 69kV to 345kV
- Experience with utility contractors EPC organizations or utility construction
- Knowledge of major equipment setting bus fabrication grounding grids control wiring and commissioning
- Experience coordinating utility outages switching clearances and energization
- Experience working around energized facilities under utility rules
- Familiarity with NETA and end-to-end relay and protection testing
- Experience with utility acceptance and witness processes
- High-voltage safety leadership including switching tagging MAD grounding and bonding
- OSHA 30 preferred
- Experience managing specialty HV subcontractors and NETA testing firms
- Documentation ability to utility-acceptance standards
Responsibilities
- Supervise substation and switchyard construction
- Manage high-voltage equipment receiving and installation
- Coordinate utility interconnection scope clearances switching orders and outages
- Supervise work in and around energized facilities
- Sequence relay protection testing and energization activities
- Coordinate punch completion test records safety walkdowns and utility witnesses
- Enforce minimum approach distances grounding bonding switching tagging and arc-flash controls
- Own the HV three-week look-ahead
- Manage specialty subcontractors and testing firms
- Maintain QC torque termination test and as-built records
- Support HV system turnover to operations
- Train adjacent trades on high-voltage hazards
