About the Role
You will lead the Storage team, manage its growth and delivery, and ensure the reliability and durability of storage services. You will set priorities, oversee incident response and capacity planning, establish operational processes, and drive long-term storage projects to completion.
Requirements
- 3+ years managing infrastructure or software engineers
- 5+ years of hands-on production distributed-storage experience
- Knowledge of block, file, and object storage trade-offs
- Linux systems, NVMe, filesystems, storage networking, and performance-analysis expertise
- Experience designing or improving on-call rotations and incident processes
- Experience implementing runbooks, change management, planning, and metrics
- Strong written communication skills
Responsibilities
- Manage the Storage team, including coaching, career development, performance management, and compensation input
- Own the hiring plan, define role profiles and levels, run hiring processes, and onboard engineers
- Spread storage knowledge through pairing, training, and documentation
- Establish ownership areas across storage services, customer clusters, site buildout, performance, and capacity
- Run sustainable on-call, escalation, postmortem, and handover processes
- Introduce change management for high-risk storage operations
- Own the storage security and compliance posture with the Security team
- Track service health and delivery metrics and act on them
- Establish request triage and prioritisation processes
- Represent the team to infrastructure peers, product teams, and customers
- Work with data-centre operations and procurement on capacity planning and vendor evaluations
- Turn the technical roadmap into quarterly plans and deliver multi-quarter projects
