About the Role

You will lead development and operation of infrastructure-as-code, networking, storage, compute, and service-mesh platforms. You will set the platform roadmap, build self-service infrastructure interfaces, and own availability, upgrades, isolation, recovery, and incident remediation. You will review designs and production changes, debug failures, coach engineers, manage performance, hire, and delegate technical ownership.

Requirements

• Engineering management experience
• Experience leading and developing engineers
• Experience making prioritization and performance decisions
• Experience hiring and delivering through a team
• Experience building and operating cloud platforms or distributed systems
• Knowledge of infrastructure code, Kubernetes, networking, service identity, and stateful dependencies
• Experience with consequential migrations and incidents
• Knowledge of failure modes and rollback limits
• Ability to create internal platform interfaces and evaluate reliability, autonomy, effort, and efficiency tradeoffs

Responsibilities

• Lead the cloud-platform roadmap
• Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code interfaces
• Enable self-service infrastructure provisioning
• Own platform availability, upgrades, isolation, recovery, and incident remediation
• Maintain SLOs, on-call coverage, and system ownership
• Review designs and production changes
• Debug complex failure modes
• Coach engineers and develop technical leaders
• Manage performance and hire engineers
• Delegate meaningful ownership
