Required and preferred rules are kept separate and reflect the wording in the original posting.
About the Role
You will perform static and dynamic FEA for robotic components and subsystems, using results to support design optimization. You will participate in physical testing, collect empirical data, improve simulation models, and document and communicate analysis findings. You will also develop simulation automation scripts and expand into CFD and thermal-structural analysis.
Requirements
- Demonstrated application of FEA and dynamics principles to real-world engineering problems
- Understanding of mechanics of materials, dynamics, and thermodynamics
- Basic to intermediate proficiency with Ansys, Abaqus, or Nastran
- Ability to manipulate CAD data for simulation meshing
- Ability to communicate complex engineering concepts in written and verbal formats
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
- MS in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with 2–3+ years of hardware-simulation experience
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with 5+ years of electromechanical hardware-simulation experience
- Eligibility to work in the United States
Responsibilities
- Perform static and dynamic FEA on robotic components and subsystems
- Learn and apply CFD and thermal-structural interaction methodologies
- Participate in physical testing and collect empirical data
- Execute simulation workflows and develop Python or MATLAB automation scripts
- Maintain technical documentation and communicate findings in design reviews
- Partner with mechanical design and manufacturing teams to solve hardware challenges
