About the Role
You will create and maintain documentation for cloud services and on-premise software used by end users, administrators, developers, integrators, and DevOps professionals. You will research products, explain complex concepts clearly, advocate for documentation during development, write in AsciiDoc with GitHub, test early software, use AI assistants, and provide structural and technical edits.
Requirements
- Experience or exposure to software development
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
- Experience with Markdown languages, version control tools, single-source techniques, metadata, tagging, and integrated development environments
- Experience with Jira and Confluence or similar platforms
- Experience using Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot
- Understanding of documentation site construction and publishing with Jenkins or Antora
- Ability to collaborate effectively face to face and remotely
- Ability to edit writer and developer-contributed content constructively
- Ability to create content for human users and structure documentation for AI tools, search engines, and coding assistants
- Docs-as-Code experience preferred
- Scripting or programming experience preferred
- Experience building, installing, configuring, and debugging client and server software preferred
- Identity and access management documentation experience preferred
- Developer or API documentation experience preferred
- Experience writing and maintaining AI skill files preferred
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and product stakeholders to create and maintain documentation
- Deliver documentation for cloud-based services and on-premise software
- Research products and their underlying standards
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear user-friendly content
- Advocate for documentation during product planning and feature scoping
- Write and publish content with AsciiDoc, GitHub, and Docs-as-Code practices
- Anticipate documentation needs throughout the software development lifecycle
- Provide structural and technical edits
- Explore unreleased features and test early-stage software
- Use AI assistants for code generation, use case creation, summarization, and style checking
