About the Role
You will apply systems engineering principles to autonomous defense systems. You will translate mission and customer needs into requirements, create architectures and interface definitions, support integration and testing, develop C++ and Python tools, investigate system behavior using engineering data, and collaborate across autonomy, software, hardware, avionics, test, and platform disciplines.
Requirements
- BS or MS in a related technical discipline
- 5+ years developing, integrating, or delivering complex software-intensive systems
- Experience developing and debugging software in C++ and Python
- Experience with autonomous or robotic systems
- Understanding of systems engineering for complex defense systems
- Experience with requirements decomposition, allocation, traceability, and verification
- Experience developing system architectures, interface definitions, and Interface Control Documents
Responsibilities
- Apply systems engineering principles to autonomous defense systems
- Translate operational needs and customer requirements into system and software requirements
- Develop system architectures, functional decompositions, interface definitions, ICDs, traceability, and verification strategies
- Manage interfaces among autonomy, vehicle, mission, sensor, communications, payload, and external systems
- Develop C++ and Python software, prototypes, analysis tools, test infrastructure, and engineering utilities
- Use simulation, logs, telemetry, and engineering data to diagnose failures and validate assumptions
- Lead system integration across simulation, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, ground-test, and flight-test environments
