About the Role
You will design and implement high-throughput payment systems, build merchant APIs and SDKs, develop fraud detection features, scale distributed services, optimize databases and caching, instrument production systems, ship features end to end, contribute to architecture decisions, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
- Experience with React is a plus
- Understanding of REST API design
- Understanding of relational and document databases, especially MongoDB
- Understanding of distributed systems
- Experience with high-volume or strict-correctness systems
- Comfort with AWS, GCP, or similar cloud infrastructure
- Experience with containerized deployments
- Track record of shipping and maintaining production systems
- Ability to discuss technical tradeoffs with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-throughput payment processing systems
- Build merchant APIs and SDKs
- Develop fraud detection and risk management features
- Architect scalable systems for performance, reliability, and observability
- Optimize database queries and caching strategies
- Optimize service communication patterns
- Instrument services for monitoring, alerting, and debugging
- Work on features from technical design through deployment and iteration
- Translate requirements into technical solutions
- Contribute to architecture, tooling, and best-practice decisions
- Mentor engineers through code review, pairing, and knowledge sharing
