About the Role
You will take technical ownership of backend architecture while remaining hands-on with system design, coding, and code reviews. You will lead backend engineers, set quality standards, design scalable and reliable services, manage database architecture, build integrations, improve observability, and contribute to infrastructure, delivery planning, and AI/LLM product capabilities.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong hands-on coding skills
- Strong production experience with TypeScript and Node.js
- Experience with NestJS, Express, or Fastify
- Experience leading backend engineers and owning technical delivery
- Understanding of system design, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis
- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, or BullMQ
- Understanding of Docker and CI/CD
- Experience designing and operating scalable production systems
Responsibilities
- Own backend architecture and technical decisions
- Design, build, and maintain backend services using TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS
- Lead the backend team and unblock complex technical problems
- Review code and maintain engineering and quality standards
- Design highly available, performant, and scalable systems
- Own and optimize database architecture across PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB
- Build integrations with internal services, external APIs, payment platforms, and gaming platforms
- Improve system reliability, observability, and fault tolerance
- Work on CI/CD, deployments, and infrastructure with the Tech Lead
- Support the integration of AI and LLM capabilities into production products
- Contribute to planning, estimation, and technical direction
