About the Role

You will lead the development, assembly, integration, commissioning, calibration, testing, debugging, validation, and iteration of complex humanoid robotic prototypes. You will provide technical direction and mentorship, coordinate prototype work, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems, improve engineering processes, and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience in robotics prototyping, mechatronics, electromechanical integration, or advanced robotic hardware development.
  • 5+ years of experience directing technician groups in a research and development setting.
  • Experience mentoring, developing, and coordinating technical team members.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent practical engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience building, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting complex robotic or electromechanical systems.
  • Experience taking complex hardware prototypes from concept through delivery.
  • Understanding of precision mechanical assemblies, actuators, motors, sensors, wiring, and embedded hardware interfaces.
  • Experience with fine-pitch soldering, precision wiring, cable assemblies, connectors, and electrical integration.
  • Knowledge of actuator commissioning, sensor calibration, motor control interfaces, and robotic system testing.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and precision measurement instruments.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and engineering problem-solving.
  • Experience improving prototype assembly, integration, testing, and validation processes.
  • Project coordination skills, including planning, resource prioritization, risk management, and cross-functional execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, assembly, integration, and commissioning of robotic prototypes.
  • Own prototype development from initial build through calibration, testing, debugging, validation, and design iteration.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to engineers and technicians.
  • Mentor technical team members and establish effective engineering workflows.
  • Coordinate prototype development activities, resource allocation, and engineering priorities.
  • Drive hardware troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and failure investigations.
  • Oversee actuator, encoder, and sensor integration, calibration, and performance optimization.
  • Partner with mechanical, electrical, embedded software, and controls teams on design and integration improvements.
  • Lead technical design reviews and provide feedback on assembly, reliability, serviceability, and manufacturability.
  • Improve prototype assembly procedures, testing methodologies, and validation standards.
  • Support system-level testing, reliability assessments, and prototype-to-production transitions.
  • Develop and maintain assembly instructions, test procedures, troubleshooting guides, SOPs, and engineering reports.
  • Plan prototype builds, track technical progress, manage risks, and communicate priorities.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and efficient prototyping environment.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive extended health benefits, including fully paid medical and dental, virtual care, employee and family assistance, and worldwide emergency medical support.
  • 23 days of annual leave.
  • 15 days of paid sick leave.
  • Paid company holidays.
  • Paid company-wide holiday closure from Christmas through New Year's Day.
