About the Role
You will lead regional privacy advice across APAC, adapt global frameworks to local requirements, assess privacy risks, support incident response, negotiate privacy agreements, monitor regulatory changes, and provide guidance on AI governance and data management.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer in a Commonwealth jurisdiction
- 7+ years of relevant data privacy experience including GDPR
- Hands-on expertise in at least two APAC privacy frameworks
- Experience building or scaling an in-house privacy program
- Experience with commercial negotiations compliance vendor assessments incident management and privacy by design
- Experience partnering across engineering product legal compliance and enterprise risk
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Availability to work from the Singapore office and travel periodically
- Payments financial services or fintech experience is preferred
- Knowledge of AI regulation and governance frameworks is a plus
- CIPP/E CIPP/A CIPM or AIGP certification is an advantage
Responsibilities
- Advise APAC product engineering commercial HR and corporate teams on privacy requirements
- Adapt global privacy frameworks and policies for APAC jurisdictions
- Operationalize compliance with regional privacy laws and localization requirements
- Advise on cross-border data transfers and localized consent flows
- Conduct privacy impact assessments and maintain records of processing activities
- Draft review and negotiate privacy and data processing agreements
- Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into internal controls
- Support regional privacy incident response
- Provide guidance on AI governance data governance and retention
- Deliver regional privacy training and self-service resources
- Engage with regulators and external counsel when appropriate
