About the Role
You will perform assembly-level mechanical FEA and analyze static and dynamic conditions. You will identify failure modes, present design guidance, correlate test data with models, write procedures, develop test fixtures, investigate field issues, and manage external testing relationships.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 3+ years analyzing mechanical systems with FEA in automotive, aerospace, or a related industry
- FEA experience with ANSYS or SolidWorks
- Knowledge of solid mechanics, structural dynamics, and materials science
- CAD experience with SolidWorks, NX, Catia, or Creo
- Experience with data-acquisition systems, accelerometers, thermocouples, and strain gauges
Responsibilities
- Perform assembly-level mechanical FEA simulations in ANSYS
- Analyze nonlinear static and dynamic conditions including modal, shock, and random vibration
- Identify failure modes and provide design guidance
- Create and present analysis reports
- Conduct or supervise testing and correlate data to FEA models
- Write test procedures for internal and external use
- Develop test fixtures and support test-equipment maintenance
- Support root-cause analysis of field issues
- Manage relationships with testing facilities, suppliers, and external partners
- Travel occasionally to conduct or supervise testing
