About the Role
You will lead system-modeling and design-simulation strategy and manage a group of simulation specialists. You will develop mathematical models, simulation tools, optimization methods, and performance forecasts; evaluate design alternatives; establish technical standards; communicate findings; and guide engineering and roadmap decisions.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in system simulation, modeling, operations research, robotics, controls, or a related discipline
- At least 3 years of engineering management experience
- Experience managing teams of 5–10 engineers
- Mathematical modeling, optimization, simulation, and systems-analysis knowledge
- Design trade study, performance modeling, capacity planning, or operational simulation experience
- Knowledge of discrete-event simulation, control systems, optimization techniques, statistics, and analytical methods
- Experience translating simulation outputs into engineering and business decisions
- Communication and leadership skills
Responsibilities
- Define and execute system-modeling, simulation, and design-optimization strategy
- Develop mathematical models of robotic systems and operational processes
- Lead creation of simulation tools for product architectures and design concepts
- Build throughput, capacity-planning, optimization, and forecasting capabilities
- Drive design-space exploration and trade-off analysis
- Develop discrete-event and system-level simulations
- Analyze design alternatives with architecture, controls, mechanical, and software partners
- Establish quantitative methodologies and predictive models
- Lead and develop simulation and modeling engineers
- Establish modeling standards and best practices
- Support hiring, mentoring, and staff development
- Provide simulation-based roadmap recommendations
- Communicate technical findings to executive and cross-functional audiences
