About the Role

Wayve is hiring a Senior Data Scientist based in Sunnyvale, California, to partner with AI engineering teams and improve the functionality, safety, and performance of its AI Driver through analysis of real and simulated driving data.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working in a Data Science role.
  • Production-level SQL experience for querying and building large datasets and data-transformation pipelines.
  • Experience designing robust real-world experiments and evaluating test statistics.
  • Strong foundations in statistical distributions, frequentist testing, and statistical assumptions.
  • Proficiency with Python data science and statistical packages or equivalent R tooling.
  • Ability to summarize, visualize, and communicate findings clearly and compellingly.
  • Track record of influencing team direction through data-driven findings.
  • Comfort working asynchronously across time zones with cross-functional partners.
  • Experience with machine learning and taking research ideas to production is desired.
  • Experience with statistical rigor, causal inference, econometrics, Bayesian methodologies, distributed computing, or fast-moving technology companies is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and iterate performance metrics that guide engineering progress and commercial success.
  • Design experiments and targeted off-road measurements to validate product requirements, safety, and performance.
  • Investigate model training and inference bottlenecks and validate hypotheses for improvement.
  • Influence team direction, prioritization, and strategy through actionable data-driven findings.
  • Work cross-functionally and asynchronously with engineering partners across time zones.
