About the Role
As Upvest's first Data Governance Manager, you will own the entire market data governance function, manage provider and exchange relationships, negotiate licensing agreements, ensure compliant redistribution, and advise the business on new products and asset classes.
Requirements
- Law degree or equivalent legal training preferred, or 5+ years of hands-on market data licensing experience.
- 3–6 years of experience in the market data space.
- Strong knowledge of exchange licensing, redistribution rights, derived data rules, and reporting obligations.
- Ability to independently conduct commercial negotiations.
- Understanding of entitlement systems, data feeds, and APIs.
- Detail-oriented and experienced in documenting complex licensing landscapes.
- Fluent English; German is a plus.
- Based in Berlin is mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Own relationships with market data and static asset data providers.
- Lead commercial negotiations from initial terms through signature and renewal.
- Ensure market data redistribution to B2B clients is properly licensed.
- Fulfill entitlement and usage reporting obligations.
- Maintain records of data consumption and distribution for audit readiness.
- Advise internal teams on market data access, costs, and licensing conditions.
- Assess, select, and onboard new market data providers and exchanges.
- Establish best-practice market data governance processes.
- Identify cost savings through renegotiation, consolidation, and usage optimization.
- Monitor policy and commercial changes and communicate material developments.
- Support management of other Network partners.
