About the Role
You will design, synthesize, purify, and characterize small molecules, using medicinal chemistry principles to prioritize compounds. You will test AI-designed molecules and synthetic routes, coordinate external research partners, document high-quality experimental data, and communicate findings to chemistry, AI, and life sciences audiences.
Requirements
- PhD in chemistry
- Medicinal chemistry experience with SAR-driven small-molecule design and optimization
- Recent sustained hands-on synthetic chemistry experience
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across functions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 5+ years of medicinal chemistry experience beyond the PhD
- Experience advancing programs from hit identification through lead optimization
- Experience directing synthetic chemistry activities at contract research organizations
- Computational chemistry, cheminformatics, or coding skills
- Experience using AI or ML tools in life sciences
Responsibilities
- Design and oversee multi-step small-molecule synthetic routes
- Optimize reactions, purification strategies, and characterization workflows
- Coordinate synthesis and biological evaluation with contract research organizations and academic partners
- Evaluate AI-designed molecules and synthetic routes through experimental readouts
- Apply SAR analysis and physicochemical property optimization to compound design
- Maintain high-quality experimental procedures, spectra, and failure-mode documentation
- Communicate findings to chemistry, AI research, and life sciences audiences
