About the Role

You will develop key insights that lead to long-term investment recommendations and share them to translate into value-added portfolio actions. You will screen new ideas and landscape industries for public equity investment opportunities within emerging markets, and recommend investment ideas focused on companies operating in those markets. You'll execute discrete projects assessing companies' strengths and weaknesses across business models, growth drivers, industry trends, competitive advantages, financial strength, and management execution using the firm's investment criteria. You will build complex financial models and draft investment case summaries for companies under serious consideration. You'll conduct research activities, in Mandarin when necessary, including sell-side analyst meetings, management meetings, industry contact interviews, conference attendance, facility visits, and analysis of financial filings and trade journals. You will closely follow existing investments where you are the lead research person, tracking industry trends, company results, management touchpoints, and competitive dynamics, while collecting and tracking company, industry, and portfolio data over time. You will actively participate in weekly Investment Team and Strategy Team meetings, sharing research views and updates, and participate in select client service and business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Business Management, Economics, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
  • 4 years of experience as a Research Analyst, Investment Analyst, Investment Research Analyst, Asset Management Analyst, Equity Analyst, Equity Research Analyst, Investing Analyst, or Research Associate
  • 4 years of experience performing fundamental investment research of global companies
  • 4 years of experience in Emerging Markets
  • 4 years of experience in equity research
  • 4 years of experience in global equity research
  • 4 years of experience communicating research findings verbally and in writing, including PowerPoint presentations, email communications, written reports, and data input into FactSet
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin
  • Up to 40% domestic and international travel

Responsibilities

  • Develop key insights that lead to long-term investment recommendations
  • Articulate and share key insights to translate into value-added portfolio actions
  • Screen new ideas and conduct industry landscaping for public equity investment ideas within emerging markets
  • Develop and recommend investment ideas focused on companies operating in emerging markets
  • Execute discrete projects to assess and analyze companies' strengths and weaknesses in business models, growth drivers, industry trends, competitive advantages, financial strength, and management execution
  • Develop and build complex financial models to assist investment decisions
  • Draft investment case summary documents for companies under serious investment consideration
  • Conduct research activities, in Mandarin when necessary, including sell-side analyst meetings, management meetings, industry contact interviews, and conference attendance
  • Visit company facilities and review trade and financial journals and financial filings
  • Closely follow existing investments where serving as lead research person, tracking industry trends, company results, and competitive analysis
  • Collect and track company, industry, and portfolio level data over time
  • Participate in weekly Investment Team and Strategy Team meetings sharing research views and updates
  • Participate in Management and select Client Service/Business Development efforts
