About the Role
You will advise Product, Engineering, Design, and Business teams on autonomy, AI, privacy, accessibility, and consumer protection. You will lead compliance and IP projects, review integrations and contracts, manage patenting, build legal playbooks, support regulatory engagement, and assist with M&A transactions.
Requirements
- Experience advising engineering, product, design, security, privacy, and marketing teams throughout the product development lifecycle
- Experience counseling on domestic and international laws, regulations, and compliance
- Experience advancing large, complex projects
- 8+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school
- Active membership in one state bar
Responsibilities
- Advise Product, Engineering, Design, and Business teams on autonomy, AI, privacy, data protection, accessibility, and consumer protection
- Lead cross-functional compliance, safety, and intellectual property projects
- Review product integrations for contractual, data-protection, intellectual-property, and regulatory compliance
- Translate legal advice into actionable product and engineering guidance
- Manage the patenting program and invention-harvesting sessions
- Build legal systems, policies, processes, guides, and playbooks
- Review customer contracts, inbound contracts, marketing materials, and external-facing documents
- Collaborate with regulators and industry groups on legal and regulatory developments
- Assist with M&A transactions
