About the Role
You will own the technical vision, architecture, interfaces, and documentation for motion planning and controls. You will solve complex planning and control problems, turn prototypes into production systems, analyze field failures, build recovery capabilities, establish tests and benchmarks, mentor engineers, and write safety-critical Python and C++ software.
Requirements
- 8+ years building robotics software
- Expertise in motion planning and control for real-world robots
- Expertise in sample-based planning, path optimization, trajectory optimization, numerical optimization, nonlinear optimization, and contact-aware control
- Expert-level Python and C++
- Technical communication and architecture documentation
- Professional fluency in English
- Foundation in robotics, controls, computer science, mechanical engineering, or a related quantitative field
- ROS or ROS2
- Git
- Linux
- Numerical optimization libraries
- Testing, CI, and benchmarking for robotics
Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision, architecture, interfaces, and documentation for the motion-planning and controls stack
- Solve complex planning and control problems and productionize research prototypes
- Set engineering standards and technical strategy
- Mentor engineers, review designs, and guide technical decisions
- Analyze field failures and design robust autonomous recovery
- Establish regression tests, benchmarks, and success metrics
- Write production-grade Python and C++ for real-time safety-critical robotics
