About the Role
You will provide mechanical design support for remote handling, post-irradiation examination, activated-component handling, and disposal activities. You will develop designs in Creo, support tooling through fabrication and maintenance, prepare plans and technical documents, lead testing, and provide occasional off-hours operational support.
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and at least 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering design experience
- Understanding of mechanics, materials, fluid dynamics, and stress analysis
- Working knowledge of CAD solid modeling
- Experience with mechanical design and analysis
- Experience with hoisting, rigging, and material-handling operations
- Ability to obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 PIV badge
- Pass a Federal Tier 1 background check investigation
Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering design support for remote handling
- Support fabrication, commissioning, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of remote-handling tools and systems
- Develop concepts through final detailed designs using Creo
- Prepare maintenance and component-replacement plans, estimates, schedules, and requirement documents
- Prepare presentations and respond to design-review and advisory-committee recommendations
- Lead process development and mockup testing for tooling and equipment
- Comply with environment, safety, health, and quality requirements
- Provide occasional off-hours or weekend operational support
