About the Role

You will turn broad requirements into practical design specifications. You will collaborate on prototype robots, design mechanisms and structures, create CAD models and engineering documentation, analyze and bench-test designs, resolve root causes, manage vendor-delivered components, and adapt designs to changing project needs.

Requirements

• BSME with 5+ years of relevant experience
• Experience designing high-performance mechanical structures, motion mechanisms, and integrated systems
• Advanced proficiency with CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, or Creo
• Experience with FEA and topology optimization
• Understanding of ASME drafting standards and GD&T Y14.5-2018
• Experience transitioning designs from early concepts through production
• Familiarity with casting, sheet metal, stamping, hydroforming, composites, and energy-absorbing structures
• Experience designing lightweight, high-performance structures, compliant mechanisms, and flexible energy-absorbing designs

Responsibilities

• Translate broad project requirements into design specifications
• Collaborate on prototype robot design and development
• Design and refine mechanisms, interfaces, and structures
• Create and manage CAD models, engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and test plans
• Perform design analysis and bench validation
• Troubleshoot design issues and implement corrective and preventative measures
• Collaborate with vendors on outsourced components and assemblies
• Adapt to changing project requirements
