About the Role
Close loans once cleared from underwriting, finalize loan packages, review closing documents, coordinate corrections, send packages to title agents, prepare wires and disburse funds, manage the loan queue, ensure regulatory compliance, work with Capital Markets and investors, attend pipeline meetings, and suggest process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years at a bank in a residential mortgage lending department with knowledge of post-closing and quality assurance practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and constantly changing business environment
- Intermediate PC proficiency
- Comfort with new technology systems and a paperless environment
- Demonstrated ability to provide good customer service
- Experience with Encompass or another loan origination system preferred
- Experience underwriting or closing foreign national loans at a regional bank preferred
- Network of processors, underwriters, or closers preferred
- Independent and entrepreneurial mindset preferred
Responsibilities
- Review original closing documents for proper execution
- Follow up promptly to obtain corrections on closing documents
- Partner with Capital Markets to answer investor questions
- Develop and maintain workflows for document preparation, closing, filing, funding, and delivery to investors
- Send loan packages to title agents via the loan origination system after Closing Disclosure approval
- Review funding items, disburse funds, issue funding numbers, and prepare wire transfers
- Manage a large loan queue in a timely manner
- Escalate unresolved issues to management where appropriate
- Review files for regulatory compliance
- Attend weekly pipeline meetings to ensure loans projected to close are on time
- Suggest process improvements wherever opportunities arise
- Apply investor underwriting and funding guidelines to assist loan delivery to partners
