About the Role

You will negotiate derivatives, financing, brokerage, clearing, and other trading-related agreements. You will advise business units on contract strategy, regulatory risks, and legal obligations; support business initiatives across time zones; and assist with internal legal projects.

Requirements

  • Be admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong or another comparable jurisdiction.
  • Have at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Have full professional proficiency in Mandarin.
  • Have substantial knowledge of and experience negotiating trading-related documentation, including ISDA documentation, prime brokerage agreements, futures and OTC clearing agreements, repurchase agreements, and electronic trading agreements.
  • Have working knowledge of derivatives and trading regulations.
  • Have experience with derivatives transactions in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Learn new subjects and business areas quickly.
  • Explain complex legal issues to business partners.
  • Handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and exercise sound commercial and legal judgment.
  • Maintain reliable and predictable availability.

Responsibilities

  • Advise business development, trading, treasury, risk, and clearing teams on firm needs and trading-related matters.
  • Lead negotiations with derivatives and financing counterparties across asset classes.
  • Negotiate derivatives, financing, and other trading-related agreements.
  • Counsel business units on contract strategy, contractual risks, obligations, alternatives, and negotiations.
  • Identify derivatives-trading regulatory issues and work with compliance, internal stakeholders, and outside counsel to mitigate risks.
  • Support business initiatives with global legal team members across time zones.
  • Assist with internal legal department projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
