About the Role

You will own and improve the employee experience from onboarding through offboarding. You will manage employee relations, payroll, benefits, compliance, HR systems, reporting, and workplace processes while building scalable people operations.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in HR, people operations, or similar roles
  • 2+ years building company-wide processes from scratch within the same company
  • 2+ years at a technology startup or technology company
  • Knowledge of multi-state employment compliance, especially California
  • Power-user proficiency in UKG, including configuration, reporting, and workflow templates
  • Fluency using AI tools such as Claude for HR work
  • Experience with payroll administration and benefits reconciliation
  • Experience guiding managers through terminations, layoffs, and personnel decisions
  • Communication, project management, and interpersonal skills
  • Authorization to work in the United States throughout employment

Responsibilities

  • Lead employee engagement, recognition, surveys, and internal communications
  • Plan company events, offsites, and culture-building initiatives
  • Oversee onboarding, offboarding, exit processes, and new-hire orientation
  • Run payroll accurately and on time across hourly, salaried, and contractor populations
  • Reconcile benefits enrollment and carrier billing
  • Administer employee leave programs
  • Ensure multi-state employment-law compliance
  • Prepare reports and documentation for audits
  • Maintain the employee handbook and HR policies
  • Lead investigations and manage employee-relations issues
  • Own HRIS configuration, workflow automation, reporting, and data integrity
  • Deliver HR metrics and insights
  • Use AI and automation to streamline HR workflows
  • Assist with interview scheduling, onsite candidate hosting, and employee events
