About the Role
You will lead research in AI and machine learning for sensor analytics. You will set and execute group strategy, grow research programs, supervise and develop staff, recruit researchers, review technical products, build collaborations, and oversee laboratory safety.
Requirements
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Minimum of eight years of relevant image or signal-processing and machine-learning experience
- Experience and success leading research and development teams
- Obtain and maintain a DOE Secret Compartmented Information clearance
- Pass a pre-placement drug test and participate in ongoing random drug testing
- Potentially participate in random polygraph testing
Responsibilities
- Initiate, lead, and perform independent research and development
- Develop and grow programs in image and signal processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence
- Develop and implement a group research strategy
- Set staff performance goals and provide performance feedback
- Provide staff development guidance
- Attract candidates and hire staff members
- Serve as the immediate supervisor for group staff
- Establish collaborations and participate in professional-society leadership and technical events
- Review proposals, publications, and technical artifacts
- Hold regular scientific and technical group meetings
- Lead laboratory safety and mentor Laboratory Space Managers
