About the Role
You will lead the Long Beach engineering site while directing the design and technical execution of controllable solid propulsion systems. You will manage staffing, performance, compliance, and engineering processes, and contribute directly to mechanical design, analysis, systems integration, project controls, and technical communications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline and 10 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience
- Experience managing high-performing technical teams
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, testing, or manufacturing controllable solid propulsion systems
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
- U.S. Person status or eligibility for required export authorizations
Responsibilities
- Lead the Long Beach engineering site and represent the engineering team to visitors
- Manage, mentor, evaluate, and develop approximately 20 engineers
- Allocate engineering resources and support recruiting and hiring
- Ensure adherence to engineering practices, standards, timekeeping, and processes
- Lead the design and technical execution of solid rocket motor systems
- Develop CAD models and technical drawings
- Perform structural, dynamic, thermal, and combustion analyses
- Oversee design for manufacturability, materials selection, and assembly planning
- Manage DoD project financial oversight, schedules, procurement, and proposals
- Direct systems engineering, requirements traceability, configuration management, and risk mitigation
- Oversee avionics and control-systems integration
- Author technical documentation and presentations
